International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, November 25, the Women's Foundation publishes a report entitled: "Five years after #MeToo: the cost of justice for victims of sexual violence.". Written by experts Lucile Peytavin and Lucile Quillet, chis report sheds light on the countless obstacles and dead-ends that punctuate the judicial process for victims of sexual violence, as well as the costs involved.

Victims often have to bear the costs of defense and reconstruction alone, as the aid available is unsatisfactory. What's more, only a tiny proportion of victims ultimately receive compensation. In addition to gender-based and sexual violence, there is also economic violence and the risk of impoverishment. Victims don't lodge complaints for money - and indeed, most of the time, they simply don't lodge complaints at all. As a result, the impunity of perpetrators is reinforced (less than 1% of rape victims are convicted by the courts).

This report is the first to be produced by the Women's Foundation's Observatory on Women's Economic Emancipation.

A patron of the Women's Foundation since 2018, Crédit Municipal de Paris has chosen to intensify its partnership in 2022 by supporting, in particular, the creation of this observatory. This is an important commitment for the bank, which provides day-to-day support to Parisian women in situations of financial fragility.

Pawnbroking, a long-standing activity of Crédit Municipal de Paris, is a powerful tool for the emancipation and financial independence of women, who make up 80% of its clientele. Women are also in the majority in our support services for the financially vulnerable (60%). This over-representation of women among our customers reflects long-standing and persistent gender inequalities, which Crédit Municipal de Paris is determined to combat.

In addition to its support for the Women's Foundation, Crédit Municipal de Paris aims to offer its customers and beneficiaries in situations of financial fragility comprehensive assistance to help them regain control of their finances. Responding to the cross-cutting issues frequently encountered by women - single parenthood, sexual violence, damaged self-esteem, etc. - this innovative offer is designed to help them regain control over their finances. This innovative offer will be supported by a solid network of associative and public-sector partners. It will shortly be tested within the budget support service of Crédit Municipal de Paris.
