Launch of the 2nd edition of the 1% art market
Artists can now apply for the second edition of the "1% art market", a scheme run by Crédit Municipal de Paris and the City of Paris to support artistic creation in the Paris region.
The "1% art market" closes its first edition and launches a new call for projects. "The first edition of the "1% art market" scheme, launched with Crédit Municipal de Paris, was a great success. I'm delighted that it enabled us to recognize the talent of three young artists from the Paris region. By renewing the project this year, Paris is pursuing one of its finest missions: to liberate creation ", declared Christophe Girard, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of Culture.
The prize money for this second edition amounts to €110,000. The aim is to support the production of original works, up to a maximum of €20,000 per artist, and to allow time for distribution. Crédit Municipal de Paris finances this endowment by taking 1% of sales from its 80 annual auctions. The "1% art market" is part of a policy of patronage and support for artistic creation that Crédit Municipal de Paris has been pursuing for almost 10 years.
" Thanks to the "1% art market" scheme, three exceptional artists have been supported and three ambitious works have seen the light of day. We are proud to be renewing the project in 2019 alongside the City of Paris - and thus affirming our loyal commitment to art and culture," said Frédéric Mauget, Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Municipal de Paris. The jury will once again be chaired by Fabrice Hergott, Director of the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
