Since April 7, 2023, visual artists have been able to apply for the new edition of the 1% art market prize, a unique support scheme for contemporary art run jointly by the City of Paris and Crédit Municipal de Paris.

Buoyed by the success of the four previous editions, Crédit Municipal and the City of Paris are renewing the Prix in 2023, with Céline Poulin, the new director of FRAC Île-de-France, as president of the jury.

This year, the scheme is evolving. With equal representation, it will comprise three categories: artists not represented in galleries, artists represented in France, artists represented in France and internationally.

"Enabling artists to create in Paris and supporting them in the production of their work is a major ambition of the City of Paris, whose vibrant art scene continues to thrive. For this5th edition , the Prize is evolving to better support artists in all their diversity, and continue to forge links between Parisians and contemporary art". said Carine Rolland, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of culture and the City of the Quarter Hour.

Aimed at supporting the production of original works, the Prize is endowed with 90,000 euros, shared between 6 projects. Winners receive a production grant and a group exhibition at a prestigious venue.

"The 1% art market prize is five years old. Five years that have produced some remarkable works exhibited in the heart of Paris. By now offering a greater place to emerging artists and painters, the Prix reminds us of the importance of supporting artistic creation in all its expressions and all its boldness," declared Frédéric Mauget, General Manager of Crédit Municipal.

While the City of Paris promotes the 1% art market prize, Crédit Municipal devotes 1% of its annual auction sales to it, making it the core of its policy of patronage and support for artistic creation.
